Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan submitted today a proposal to the City Council of Ulaanbaatar to name a 1235 meter-long street between the 1st khoroo of Sukhbaatar district and Narny Zam road along Selbe River as Paris Street.

The City Council sent a letter to Paris city administration for a consent to establish a Paris Street in Ulaanbaatar and last June, during a meeting of Governor S.Amarsaikhan with French Ambassador Philippe Merlin, the Ambassador notified that Paris city governor accepts the proposal, highlighting that the street should contain features of France.

The Governor visited Paris, France in 2017, where he exchanged views on establishing Paris Street in Ulaanbaatar within the framework of expanding cooperation between the two capitals. Accordingly, a joint working group of the City Construction and Development Department of Ulaanbaatar city and the Embassy of the French Republic in Mongolia was set up and chose the street location to be named as Paris Street. Next year, Mongolia and France will celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
