As a result of nationwide implementation of early essential newborn care since 2014, infant mortality rate was reduced to a single digit and the government continues to give support to introducing KMC.
In her speech, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel said, “In 2015, Mongolia became one of the 9 countries in the world to reach the Millennium Development Goal. And currently, we are working towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The main motto of SDG is ‘Leaving no one behind’, which means to create good living conditions for infants, children, teenagers, youth, the reproductive age group and elders alike.
One of the many important measures being taken in order to reach the goal is the national programme on supporting the rights, participation and development of persons with disabilities that was approved by the Government of Mongolia in 2017. It is by directing cooperation between various sectors to maternal and child health care, using our skills to its full potential, and putting our heart into giving good quality health care assistance and services that we will be able to successfully reach the SDG and prove our previous achievement once again.”
