Boao Forum for Asia Ulaanbaatar kicks off

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Side events of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) began today on August 19. A mini Naadam festival was organized for the participants and guests of the conference at the Chinggisiin Khuree tourism camp. Opening the festival, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar, noted that the Naadam Festival, celebrated by the Mongols since time immemorial, is a complex celebration of culture and sports, demonstrating the nomadic traditions and heritage and was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the UN ESCAP and Li Baodong, Secretary-General of BFA and more than 100 delegates watched the festival. 


A dinner reception was hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the evening of August 19. Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar underlined that the Boao Forum for Asia Ulaanbaatar, being held for the first time in Mongolia, will bring impetus to the cooperation of Mongolia with China and other regional countries as well as international organizations. The event was attended by local and foreign officials and delegates of public and private sectors and Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of Boao Forum for Asia and other guests of the conference.
