Mongolian dancer wins 1st place at international dance competition

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Young artist and dancer of the Mongolian Grand Theatre of National Arts B.Erdenebayar performed a traditional folk dance of Ukraine in the ethnic dance division of the 16th Seoul International Dance Competition 2019, and won the first place. The international dance competition took place in Seoul, Republic of Korea on July 19-24.


From over 200 dancers sent their application for the division, 29 dancers were selected for the semi-finals. As for the final stage, the judges selected five dancers, one of which being B.Erdenebayar. Previously, three dancers had represented Mongolia in the competition, making great achievements.


Erdenebayar had been working at the Mongolian Grand Theatre of National Arts for four years when he participated in the ‘Perfect Dance’ dance competition organized in Mongolia in 2018. He then finished the competition by taking the second place, winning a 4-year scholarship to train as a dancer at the Korean National University of Arts.
