Foreign Minister meets with John R.Bolton, National Security Advisor of the United States

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On July 1, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar met with delegates of the US National Security Council led by Assistant to the President of the United States Donald Trump for National Security Affairs, Ambassador John Robert Bolton.


At the start of the meeting, Minister D.Tsogtbaatar appreciated the meeting of President of the United States of America D.Trump and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un at the Demilitarized Zone on June 30, saying that it was an important step for enhancing peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and advancing dialogue to the next level. He emphasized that Mongolia has been supporting this initiative constantly.


Underlining that he is satisfied with ever-expanding Mongolia and the US relations that are based on common values and mutual understanding, the Foreign Minister remarked that the United States has made valuable contribution to Mongolia’s economy and democracy.


Ambassador J.Bolton noted the U.S. considers Mongolia as an important partner in the region; expressing he is for broadening cooperation with Mongolia and will support the country even in the future.


The sides confirmed they are for continuing bilateral high-level talks and shared views on mutually interested matters on bilateral and regional cooperation such as tripartite meeting between Mongolia, the United States and Japan and peacekeeping cooperation.  


During the visit of Prime Minister of Mongolia to the United Stated of America in 2018, the parties agreed to pay close attention on expanding economic cooperation between Mongolia and the United States and established Roadmap for Economic Expanded Partnership between Mongolia and the United States. The sides are now working to make them actual works.
