Mongolia-China humanitarian partnership reaches a new level

Beijing /MONTSAME/. On February 25, the 2nd Meeting of the Mongolia-China Joint Council on Humanitarian Exchange took place in Beijing, China. The two sides discussed the implementation of the goals that were set at the first meeting in 2018 as well as the council’s plan for 2019.

Head of the Mongolian side of the Joint Council, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren highlighted that 2018 was the first year to work on a joint plan in the humanitarian sector, and noted that over 90 percent of the work that were planned for 2018 have been successfully implemented.

He then underlined that the year of 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the PRC, and noted that over 40 works have been planned for the humanitarian sector and regional relations alongside the preparation for the historical anniversary.

Putting forward his suggestion to further develop partnership in many sectors and launching joint large-scale projects in the political, trade and economic sectors by finding solutions to current issues on the occasion of the anniversary, he expressed his gratitude to the Chinese side for accepting requests and suggestions during the partnership, such as the launch of the project for the apartment complex for 1008 households as well as the project to build 67 km paved road in route Tosontsengel and Uliastai.


Furthermore, several works and projects are to be implemented in Mongolia at the suggestion of the side of China, such as organizing a book launch event for the Mongolian translation of the books written by President of PRC Xi Jinping as well as ‘Chinese film week’ and ‘70 year Mongolia-China relation through the eyes of Mongolian countryside youth'. The Mongolian side has also approved the suggestions to develop regional partnership with Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Tianjin city of the People’s Republic of China.


Head of the Chinese side of the Joint Council, Deputy Foreign Minister of China Kong Xuanyou said, “We have successfully realized most of the work that were planned at the first meeting last year, which was of high significance in making bilateral relations more active. Since the previous meeting, many positive results have been shown in humanitarian exchange. For instance, the number of people that were in exchange programs of the two countries reached 2.2 million. One third of the total Mongolian students studying in China is also receiving government scholarships. The presidents of the two countries also held meetings twice last year. The Mongolian President will soon be paying an official visit to the PRC and attend the ‘Belt and Road’ conference. It is important for the council to successfully implement the decisions the presidents made and bring the relation between the two countries to another new level.”

He then expressed his confidence in the member organizations of the Mongolia-China Joint Council on Humanitarian Exchange actively cooperate by giving more significance to innovation and making humanitarian exchange to be more socially accessible by coordinating it with the trade and economic circulation.
