State Secretary holds meetings in Canada

his working visit to Canada, D.Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, held meetings on January 25 with Patrick Borbey, President of Canada’s
Public Service Commission, Frederick J.Gorrell, Assistant Deputy Minister of
Agriculture and Agri-Food, and Brad Trost, Member of the House of Commons of
Canada.
At the meeting with Mr.
Patrick Borbey, Mr. Davaasuren expressed appreciation that Canada’s Public
Service Commission has organized a training in Ottawa within a scope of the
project on professional and citizen-centered civil service being implemented in
Mongolia since 2018, funded by the development assistance of Canadian
government.
State Secretary also
informed that the revised Law on Civil Service has come into effect from
January 1 this year. while mentioning the valuable advice and support of
Canadian side for formulating the bill. Mr.
Davaasuren presented a letter from the Chief of Civil Service Council of
Mongolia who expressed willingness to continue cooperation with Canada’s Public
Service Commission for strengthening capacity of civil service in Mongolia.
During the meeting with Mr.
Frederick J.Gorrell, the parties exchanged views on present state of agricultural
and food sectors of the two countries and agreed to define directions
of cooperation in the near future.
They also talked to scrutinize possibility to involve Mongolians in Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program
in consistence with lacking labor force in western Canada, especially farmlands
in Alberta province.
At the meeting with the Member
of the House of Commons of Canada Mr. Brad Trost, the parties exchanged views
on inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation. Expressing their
satisfactions with developing inter-parliamentary relations, they agreed to
collaborate further for intensifying bilateral cooperation.
