Darkhan seed cropping technology selected as top

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ During the closing ceremony of the annual expo ‘Science, Technology and Innovation 2018’ held at Modern National Modern Art Gallery on November 22, top exhibits of the expo were selected.

Co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and the Foundation for Science and Technology, the event aims to introduce new discoveries and achievements in the sector, share information, give report on the works carried out over the past year, build public and private partnership to introduce new technology into production and put innovative products into economic circulation.  

Nearly 1500 innovative products of the top 120 scientific organizations in Mongolia were displayed at the expo. Among them, ‘Technology to crop the naturalized Darkhan-160 seed’ of the Institute of Plant and Agricultural Science (IPAS) was selected as the top.

"‘Darkhan-160’ variety of seed, officially naturalized in Mongolia in 2017, requires short growing season or ripen within 78-84 days and has high yield potential. Most importantly the seed has gluten content (softness) of 24-33 percent. It is suitable to be planted in mountainous area such as Khuvsgul, Bulgan and Khentii aimags that have shortest growing periods and get cold early," said Dr. Prof N.Bayarsukh, General Director of IPAS.

The second place award went to rechargeable Lithium-ion button cell, created by the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, and ‘Automated heating set TSEM-18M’ by Ch.Mangaljav from the University of Science and Technology.
