Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold received Fukuoka city mayor Yoshimatsu Motoaki today.

At the beginning of the meeting, Speaker M.Enkhbold said, “As Japan is our third neighboring country, we put importance on developing partnership between the two countries in all sectors. During my official visit to Japan in 2017, the Midterm program on Strategy partnership of Mongolia and Japan was signed. I am grateful that Fukuoka, one of the biggest cities in Japan’s southwestern region, has decided to partner with our aimags and soums--especially Batsumber soum of Tuv aimag.”

Mayor Yoshimatsu Motoaki expressed his gratefulness in being able to share the knowledge and experience in sectors, such as agriculture and environmental protection. He said, “The economy of our city and prefecture rapidly developed 40 years ago. We were able to successfully solve the issue of pollution which came along with development. As we know that this challenge is faced by developing Asian countries, including Mongolia, we wish to partner in managing waste, preventing pollution in air and environment and helping protect the health of Mongolian citizens as well as improving their quality of life.”

The Mayor continued on by saying, “Furthermore, we hope to help Mongolians in acquiring the best methods and technology in farming. As Japan has limited land resources, much effort has been put into getting much harvest from little land by conducting research and gathering information. Thus, an internship program for the Mongolian youth, especially the farmers of Batsumber soum, has recently begun.”

Speaker M.Enkhbold expressed his support in the partnership between Fukuoka city and Batsumber soum and Mongolia.
