Agriculture Minister B.Batzorig visits the Kingdom of Belgium

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry B.Batzorig visited the Kingdom of Belgium on September 6-7.
 
During his visit, Minister B.Batzorig attended the forum ‘Partnering and Investing for a peste des petits ruminants-free world’ organized by the UNFAO, the OIE and the European Commission, and introduced about Mongolian laws, legal policies and organizational activities in developing agriculture, especially the animal husbandry sector. He expressed the country’s intent to effectively cooperate with the member states in  strengthening veterinary service, making Mongolian livestock healthy, vaccinating, improving local veterinary laboratories as well as retraining and empowering personnel within the objectives to export Mongolian agricultural products to foreign countries.
 
On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister held meetings with Jose Graziano da Silva, UNFAO Director General and Monique Eloit, OIE Director General respectively. During the meetings, it was expressed to continue projects which are currently being implemented in agriculture sector in Mongolia and agreed to broaden technical cooperation in making livestock healthy and in prevention of animal disease within the goal to produce value added export products in animal husbandry sector in the future.
 
On September 7, the Minister met his Belgian counterpart Denis Ducarme, forwarding some cooperation proposals on developing cooperation in agriculture. The Agriculture Minister of Belgium backed the Minister's requests on introducing European standardization into Mongolia's agricultural sector, exporting standards-met Mongolian products to European countries, implementing joint projects and making investment, importing vegetable and fruits from Belgium as well as training personnel, sharing experiences and introducing leading equipment and technology. The Belgian Minister also proposed to hold joint meeting of bilateral working groups in near future on certain cooperation matters and projects.
