Construction work of Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan auto road to be commenced next April

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In 2017, the government made a decision to build 204.6km auto road in route Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan. But the issue was finally resolved at today's Cabinet meeting, completing stage by stage works regarding the selection of contractors and financial sources.
The Cabinet resolved to launch the construction work of a new auto road in route Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan in April, 2019 under build-transfer concession agreement within public-private partnership. The road will be the first grade 4-lane road with a separation strip.
Funding will be provided with the soft loan within ADB’s Regional Road Development and Maintenance Project and from other sources. The project requires USD 225 million in total.
Furthermore, Finance Minister was assigned to implement a project on building 20.9km auto road from junction of Gachuurt to Nalaikh-Choir and to intensify a process of commencing its constructional work. The project is planned to be implemented with USD 1 billion soft loan of the Government of China. The Cabinet also obliged the Governor of the Capital City to ensure preparations in winter and to regulate works for traffic safety in order to create conditions to launch constructional work earlier in spring.
