Mongolian freestyle wrestlers claim first gold and bronze medals at 18th Asian Games

Jakarta /MONTSAME/ State Honored Athlete E.Bekhbayar won the first-ever gold medal of Mongolia at the 18th Asian Summer Games, kicked off on August 18 in Jakarta, Indonesia, by defeating Kang Kum Song from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in 57kg event of freestyle wrestling.  

The same day, a Mongolian athlete O.Uitumen claimed a bronze medal by defeating Pawan Kumar from India. As of today, Mongolian athletes are in 8th out of 45 countries with the success, along 10 countries such as India and Uzbekistan.


Mongolia is being represented by a total of 269 athletes in the Asian Summer Games, where more than 10 thousand athletes from 45 countries are competing in 40 sports events.
