3000 representatives of 50 countries to participate in 2018 AMCDRR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Government of Mongolia, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia set to co-organize the second Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) in Ulaanbaatar on July 3-6.

In addition to high-level delegates, over 3000 representatives of 50 Asia-Pacific countries including international, civil society organizations, media, private sector, children, disabled people, scholars and researchers will participate in the conference under the theme ‘Preventing Disaster Risk: Protecting Sustainable Development’.

The second Ministerial conference will review the course of the first three years implementation of the Sendai Framework for DRR, of the Asian Regional Plan, commitments and progress of taken measures of the regional countries on disaster risk reduction. Outcome documents including ‘Asia Regional plan for Implementation of the Sendai Framework for DRR 2018-2020’, ‘Ulaanbaatar Declaration’ and ‘Statement of Voluntary Commitment of Stakeholders’ are expected to approve at the conference.

In addition, the Government of Mongolia will host two featured events titled ‘Strengthening Disaster Resilient Infrastructure’ and ‘Urban Resilience and Increasing Public-Private Partnership and Investment for DRR’.
