Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ With aims to develop vocational education sector and improve quality of the training, a national consultation ‘Vocational Training-Diligent Mongolia’ kicked off yesterday, June 18 in Nalaikh district and running today at the State House.

By 2030, Mongolia aspires to be amongst leading middle-income countries based on per capita income. It hopes to have a multi-sector stable economy, and a society dominated by middle and upper-middle income classes, while preserving ecological balance. To reach this goal, it is crucial to focus attention on vocational education and training sector and to supply educated, skilled workers to labor market, stressed the Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh in his letter to the attendees of the consultation.

In 2018 a total of 35.8 thousand students are studying at 85 vocational training institutes nationwide. According to last three years' statistics, 46-55 percent of some 19.5 thousand graduates get hired for jobs annually and 8-10 percent  study further at colleges and universities.

Ambassador of Germany to Mongolia Stefan Duppel said that vocational education and training based on theory and practice is a key of his country’s economy. "It is necessary to supply vocational workers in many sectors to develop Mongolia’s economy and the country should cooperate with other countries in order to develop its vocational education sector. The Federal Republic of Germany has full potential to collaborate with Mongolia in this field."

The consultation is ongoing.
