Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On June 7, Minister of Road and Transport Development J.Bat-Erdene met with delegates led by Manuel P. Micaller, Charge d'Affaires a.i. the US Embassy to Mongolia.

Mr.Manuel P.Micaller had requested to get information on actions to be taken within air transport liberalization. US repeatedly put a request to establish ‘Open Skies’ Agreement with Mongolia. Today US is cooperating with over 100 countries within the framework of this agreement. Having the agreement with Mongolia, it will create condition to conduct direct flights to the US without flight restriction. As a result, it is possible to augment freight volume and passenger flow, boost tourism as well as expand economy. Also an advantage for marketing could be anticipated, he stated.

“Air transport liberalisation involves many issues such as increasing flight direction and frequency, improving service quality and lowering ticket price. Therefore, I see that your proposal is the same with our aims to broaden bilateral ties and support economy through tourism and air transport,” the Minister said.

The Minister asked to provide more detailed information about ‘Open Skies’ agreement, noting that it is possible to submit the issue to the Parliament after holding meetings of air transport authorities of the two countries and reaching to an agreement.
