‘All we know about Gobi Bear’ photo exhibition

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A photo exhibition under the theme ‘All we know about Gobi Bear’ was opened marking the World Environment Day on June 5.

On the occasion of World environment day and 25th anniversary of Mongolia’s accession to the Convention on Biological Diversity, Ministry of Environment and Tourism is organizing some 30 events. For instance, they have organized ‘Let’s protect the environment’ one-month campaign, children’s photo contest under the theme of “Sustainable Settlement and Forest ", an academic Conference on Research and Protection of Fauna in the Gobi Zone, and other events under the themes “Life exists under Flora existence" and “Strengthening Collaboration in the Prevention of Offence Against the Environment".

The aim of this exhibition is to publicize Gobi bear’s habitat and food, get the public familiar with behavior of this species of bear and to improve ecological education. An action plan was developed and planned in order to ensure people’s involvement in the issues regarding the restoration and protection of Gobi bear’s habitat and migration routes before to their extinction.

A document regarding the implementation of a project on improving Gobi bear’s habitat with the grant from the People's Republic of China has been signed.
