Revised version of ‘The Barber of Seville’ to be staged

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Barber of Seville by G.Rossini to be performed by artists of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet on May 19 and 20. It has been described as the opera buffa (comic opera) of all ‘opere buffe’.
The opera has been performed for more than 200 years all over the world and it still remain popular. It is also amazing that G.Rossini wrote the opera in 10 days. Premiere of the opera took place in 1816 at the Teatro Argentina, Rome and it premiered in Mongolia on October 13, 1979.
Since its premiere on the Mongolian stage, the opera was twice revised and performed by three generations of artists for 38 years.
The new unique version of the opera for modern audiences was staged in the original language on October 28-29, 2017. Italian director S.Monti was invited to direct the opera, he converted the opera events into the XIX century, in other words occuring a century later.
