Veteran diplomat T.Tumurkhuleg awarded with Legion of Honour of France

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ State Honored Cultural Figure, veteran diplomat, translator and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia T.Tumurkhuleg was awarded with the National Order of the Legion of Honour of France.
 
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Mongolia Ms. Elisabeth Barsacq handed over the order on May 15.
 
During the award ceremony, Ambassador Elisabeth Barsacq noted that T.Tumurkhuleg has made significant contribution to development of diplomatic service, history and literature.
 
T.Tumurkhuleg has translated many French literary works into Mongolian such as masterpieces by Voltaire, Charles-Louis de Secondat, Baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu, Deni Didro, Antoine de Saint-Exupery and Albert Camnus. He also translated Mongolian famous films ‘Tsogt taij’ and ‘Weeping Camel’ into French.
 
The National Order of the Legion of Honour is the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits, established in 1802 by Napoléon Bonaparte and retained by all the divergent governments and regimes later holding power in France, up to the present. It is also awarded to foreign nationals who contributed to promote French culture to the world.
