Mongolian national team triumphs 25th Asian Sambo Championships

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On  May 10-14, the 25th Asian Sambo Championships took place at the Buyant-Ukhaa Sport Complex. Mongolia hosted the 25th Asian Sambo Championships in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Sambo wrestling started to develop in Mongolia under the auspices of the President of Mongolia.

Among the participants, Mongolian National Team triumphed the 25th Asian Sambo Championships, winning a total of over 40 medals in three age divisions. In particular, they won nine gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals in the senior age division. It is the biggest achievement of the Mongolian national sambo team has ever made in the continental Championship. With their achievement, the Mongolian National Team proved that Mongolia is indeed a country of wrestling.

The Championships brought together more than 220 wrestlers from 14 countries, in which they challenged their strengths and skills in three age divisions as well as in a category of combat sambo. 

The national teams of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were in the second and third place respectively following the Mongolian national team.

Judokas have been banned from participating in other martial arts' competitions by the International Judo Federation (IJF). In relation, many judokas from Mongolia and other countries could not participate in the 25th Asia Sambo Championships.
