Income of local people to be raised through tourism

Selenge /MONTSAME/ A presention event of project on ‘Sustainable Tourism of Mongolia, inclusive economy’ took place at the Meeting Hall of the Governor’s Office of Sukhbaatar aimag on April 9-10.
Expert of ETIS program at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Ch.Oyun-Erdene delivered the project introduction. The project launched in September 2017, will be realized in Selenge, Bayankhongor and Uvs aimags of Mongolia until June, 2020.
Representatives of government and civil society organizations, small and medium enterprises, private tourism companies and media participated in the event. The main aim of the project is to reduce poverty by increasing local people’s income through creating additional income from sustainable tourism.
In this project, the National Development Agency will represent Mongolian side and ETIS program of the GIZ and TICA will work as financiers.
Eco- tourism product and a value chain are expected to be created in the three aimags as a result of the project.
In the frame of the project, numerous activities are planned such as conducting researches on tourism state, creating model travel programs for local travel, capacity and capability improvement in production, design and management of local products and souvenirs.
