MP D.Damba-Ochir holds meeting with representatives of World Bank

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economy D.Damba-Ochir received representatives of the World Bank on April 2.
Co-Director for World Development Report 2016, Development Economics and Chief Economist Deepak Mishra put a request to hold the meeting with MP D.Damba-Ochir to hear about the current state of Mongolian economy and finance and exchange views.
During the meeting, MP D.Damba-Ochir gave a wide range of information on Mongolian economy, state budget, and current state of finance, policy and future perspectives. Furthermore, he introduced the Mongolian Parliament’s actions towards improving economy of the country. Budget revenue was overfulfilled in 2017, economic growth was observed and the Law on Central Bank was amended, he mentioned and also introduced issues to be discussed during the Parliament’s spring session.
Additionally, MP D.Damba-Ochir gave information about program and projects to be realized with long-term and low-interest development loans which will contribute to the economic growth. He then answered the question of Deepak Mishra regarding the information and exchanged views.
Mr. Deepak Mishra noted that the World Bank takes into consideration the ratio of a country's government debt to its gross domestic product (GDP) when they lend money or provide financing and he expressed his opinion on how to keep the debt ratio stable.
In connection with its formulation of the strategic document for the next four years, Country Manager and Resident Representative of the World Bank for Mongolia James Anderson asked which economic sphere needs more support. In response, D.Damba-Ochir requested the World Bank to pay attention on improving stock market and support private entities’ projects through its financial support.
