Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Cabinet made following decisions at its meeting on March 27.  
  • Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh instructed the Ministers to take some follow-up actions after his working trip to Khovd, Bayan-Ulgii and Uvs aimags on March 19-24, during which he oversaw the activities of the local administrations and heard the opinions of the people.
  • The Cabinet agreed to submit to Parliament a document on the implementation of the General Guidelines on Social and Economic Development in 2017. In regard to this discussion, corresponding officials and Ministers were tasked to clarify the amount of expenditure and compare the expected and acquired results when reporting on the implementation of an action or an objective.
  • Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat, Minister of Energy Ts.Davaasuren and Ulaanbaatar Mayor S.Batbold reported on the progress of and future actions within the Cabinet Resolution ‘Some Air Pollution Reduction Actions’.
  • The Cabinet discussed and agreed to submit to Parliament the draft bills on Annulment of the Law on Ratification of Mongolia-Russia Intergovernmental Agreement on Erdenet Mining Corporation and Annulment of Law on Agreement Ratification. With adoption of the bills, Erdenet Mining Corporation will function as a fully government-owned entity.  
  • The Cabinet approved a Loan Agreement for the Asian Development Bank Project – Sustaining Access to and Quality of Education During Economic Difficulties. With the loan, two schools and eight kindergartens will be newly constructed and eight schools and 16 kindergartens will be expanded.
  • The Cabinet backed a Loan Agreement for the Ulaanbaatar Solid Waste Modernization Project and agreed to consult with the corresponding Parliamentary Standing Committees. Within the frames of the project, waste management services will be reformed and the capacity of waste disposal sites will be increased by 4 million tons. The project will also reduce carbon emissions by 18 tons per annum and help process 100 thousand tons of construction waste.
  • It was decided that an expo themed ‘Made for Children’ will be annually organized in the third week of May under the auspices of the Prime Minister, who chairs the National Council for Children. The expo will aim to boost production and sales of home-made products for children, promote Mongolian-made products among children and strengthen public-private sector cooperation.
