Mining license holders to be selected in early April

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The evaluation of mining license tenders will be held in early April, says D.Dashzeveg, Head of the Cadastre Division of the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority.
In accordance with an amendment to the Law on Minerals, mining licenses are to be granted through only tenders starting from this year. As such, a tender evaluation commission has been established under the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry.
Last year, 26 mining licenses were granted on 11.5 ha of areas on the national level. Moreover, MNT 41 billion was accumulated in the state budget from license and service fees.
At present, there are over 1700 exploration licenses and some 1330 mining licenses valid nationwide.
