Project on supporting first graders wrapped up

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/  Save the Children in Mongolia in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports has finished implementing the project themed ‘Strengthening Schools to Nurture Effective School Readiness and Learning Experiences for First Grade Children in Mongolia’ with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan between 2015 and 2018.
 
The project focused on 24 public schools located in ger areas of three districts of Ulaanbaatar city, in particular, Bayanzurkh, Chingeltei and Songinokhairkhan districts.
 
In the scope of the project, ‘Preparation program for first graders’ and its exercise notebook were revised and the program started to be implemented on the national level.
 
The project aims to help first graders adapt to school and improve their learning experiences, especially those children who did not benefit an early childhood education and living in difficult conditions and it reached 204.641 people.
 
Within the project, series of trainings were conducted for 1523 teachers. In relation, those teachers supported over 65000 first graders to improve their learning skills through active teaching methodologies. Some schools are working on creating successful model of school for first graders through their revised policy. Moreover, varieties of activities were organized to support first graders’ learning process in which over 46000 parents engaged.
