Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city introduces policy on ‘Clean air-New Planning’

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The second forum entitled ‘Smogless Ulaanbaatar’ co-organized by Bloomberg TV Mongolia and the Governor’s Office of the capital city was held today. More than 200 people attended the forum and discussed the measures to reduce the air pollution, further works, outcomes and solutions.
Mayor of the capital city and Governor of Ulaanbaatar, S.Batbold participated in the main discussion ’Clean air-New Planning’.
“The Government made a decision to stop raw coal consumption by April 2019. According to this decision a joint working group is working with the relevant ministry on production, sales and price reduction of improved fuel. Using refined coal is only part of measures to be taken to reduce the air pollution. It is clear that providing the city with gas fuel and energy efficient heating is the best solution. On the other hand, housing will have a huge impact on air pollution reduction. Therefore, the ‘City Housing and Infrastructure Development Sub Program’ was approved by the 14th Citizens Representative Meeting yesterday” he said.
Mayor also emphasized that citizens and entities’ support is important for air pollution reduction.
