National Forum on Higher Education opens

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Under the auspices of the Prime Minister, the 2nd National Forum ‘Sustainable Development – Higher Education’ began on January 26 in the State House.
Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, Head of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science, MP Yo.Baatarbileg and Secretary-General of the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO S.Uyanga delivered opening remarks.
The two-day conference comes after the national forums on Pre-School Education (January 8-9) and General Education (January 18-25).
More than 800 faculty members, scholars and experts representing 95 state-owned and private universities and higher education institutes are attending the forum.
The national forum addresses challenges in legal environment surrounding higher education, international standard higher education system based on research-practice partnership, improvement of syllabus and education quality, strengthening of teacher development and increase of competitiveness of graduates.
The forum agenda comprises the main topics – Governance, Law and Finance; Syllabus Reform; Teacher Development; Student Development and Research and Innovation, which will be individually discussed at the forum’s five side sessions, held at the National University of Mongolia (NUM).
On January 25-27, the NUM Library is hosting an exhibition featuring the research works of scholars and faculty members from about 50 institutes.
