Parliament and UNFPA to cooperate in youth development

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Head of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social policy, Education, Culture and Science Yo.Baatarbileg met Naomi Kitahara, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative in Mongolia on January 15.

At the meeting, they talked about ongoing joint projects and programs and  exchanged views on broadening cooperation.  

Ms.Naomi Kiatahara emphasized that Mongolia is successfully implementing Sustainable Development Vision, adopting Laws on Fighting against Domestic Violence and on Promotion of Youth Development. "Investment in  social development in 2018 will bring positive results to fulfil its Sustainable Development Vision. Therefore we are ready to collaborate with the Standing Committee in empowering youths, increasing participation of women at decision-making level.” The UNFPA Mongolia has formulated its three year strategy and issues related to eliminate maternal mortality and violence against girls and women are included in it, she added.   

Head of the Standing Committee Yo.Baatarbileg said the committee will pay attention on youth development and family planning and proposed to change manner of impact trainings and consultations in the cooperation plan of 2018. Female parliamentarians intend to take certain actions in direction of reproductive health of women and girls within the Sustanable Development Vision, he noted.
