500 herding households to benefit from FAO project

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will render dzud assistance to 100 households in 5 soums with the highest dzud risks.

In specific, FAO will run a project worth USD 290 thousand financed by its Special Fund for Emergency and Rehabilitation Activities (SFERA).

The project will reach herding households in Tariat soum, Arkhangai aimag, Dashinchilen soum, Bulgan aimag, Burd soum, Uvurkhangai aimag, Altanbulag soum, Tuv aimag and Santmargats soum, Zavkhan aimag that look after 100-300 head of livestock and have been in the animal husbandry industry for more than three years.

The herding households will receive monetary support from the project, in return they will provide meat for 500 vulnerable households in Ulaanbaatar.
