Minister meets representatives of professional mining associations

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 23, Mining and Heavy Industry Minister D. Sumyabazar held a meeting with authorities of professional associations of the sector. Present at the meeting were advisor to the Minister, chairmen and heads of the ministry’s departments and authorities of over 40 professional associations.
 

Openning  the meeting the Minister said, “It is necessary to change working methods in order to implement the sector’s goal and policies effectively, in particular to make companies and even people able to get profit from the minerals. At first, a responsibility system of the sector must be improved. Moreover, it needs to create a structure of industry and technology, develop insurance system and build an incentive program for businesses that hold proper and active operations.”

Mining experts and representatives of professional associations on geology, industry, oil and gas expressed their opinions. They requested to implement a clause of the ‘State Policy on minerals sector’, reading to give the Professional Council on Mineral Resources under a liability of professional associations. Moreover, they added that the Board of Directors of the state-owned companies should involve experienced professionals who are specialized, have working experince of over 20 years in the sector and ability to combine science and industry.

The Minister expressed his commitment to hear initiatives and opinions of professional associations and experts and cooperate with them productively and responsibly for the sector’s development.
