Mongolian men's team wins gold in FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia’s men won gold in the 2nd edition of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2017 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on October 29.

The Asia Cup 2017, organized on October 27-29 in Mongolia, covered teams from 15 countries, including New Zealand, Australia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, India, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and others.

In the men’s category, the Mongolian team that consisted of E. Dulguun, D. Delgernyam, E. Tserenbaatar and G. Tsenguunbayar, had a tough route to the final. In the semi-final that went to overtime, they beat an impressive Australian team who had made their way through the tournament from the Day 1 qualifying draw.

In the final, Mongolian team met New Zealand and turned on theatrics for the home crowd. The atmosphere was electric as the two teams remained within almost 2 points throughout the game. Mongolia pulled away in the final minutes and won 19-14, thanks to the play-making of MVP E. Dulguun and the scoring of G. Tsenguunbayar.

In the women’s category, Australia’s team won gold.
