Prime Minister meets Russian Ambassador

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh has appreciated the re-opening of Russian Trade Representation Office in Ulaanbaatar, emphasizing that establishment of a Free-Trade Agreement with Eurasian Economic Union would be an opportunity for Mongolia to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with Russia.
The Prime Minister met I.K.Azizov, Russian Ambassador to Mongolia, on October 24, to exchange views on bilateral relationship.
In the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh conveyed his gratitude for a congratulatory letter from his Russian counterpart D.A.Medvedev and expressed Mongolia’s satisfaction with the broadening of the bilateral cooperation, highlighting the need to focus more on trade and economic spheres.
“As Mongolia can export extensive amount of meat, meat products, wool, cashmere, leather and other products to Russia, the sides need to cooperate on removing tariff-related and non-tariff-related obstacles,” the Prime Minister pointed out.
The Prime Minister also appreciated Russia’s non-refundable aid of murrain vaccinations and touched upon Mongolia’s interest to import wheat from Russia due anticipated 40 percent loss of crop this year.
Ambassador I.K.Azizov expressed his commitment to implementation of the Russia-Mongolia Medium-term Strategic Partnership Program and the resolution adopted at the 20th Meeting of Intergovernmental Committee and remarked on the broad possibilities of further strengthening bilateral cooperation in energy, railway, agriculture and aviation spheres.
The sides also discussed the timing and agenda of the 21st Meeting of Mongolia-Russia Intergovernmental Committee.
