Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian eagle huntress Aisholpan Nurgaiv has been named as one of the laureates of the Asia Game Changer Awards.

On Tuesday, the Asia Society announced this year's recipients of the Asia Game Changer Awards, which recognize those making a transformative and positive difference for the future of Asia and the world.

Apart from her, this year’s nine honorees include a young woman using rap music to fight a trauma in Afghanistan, a trailblazing CEO changing urban life in China, a Hollywood star building bridges between India and the world, and an environmentalist placing his life on the line to stop deforestation in his native country. His Highness the Aga Khan, spiritual leader to the world’s 15 million Ismaili Muslims, will receive the Asia Game Changer Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Asia Society wrote about the girl's extraordinary story and The Eagle Huntress documentary based on her life. '"From an early age, I was always interested in being an eagle huntress,” Aisholpan said. “I don’t see any differences between me and the other boys.”

Aisholpan also had the support of family — particularly her father, Rys, who backed her when other men in her community were critical of her pursuit. It also helped that Aisholpan never doubted herself: “At first I was a little bit excited and worried, but I wasn’t afraid,” she said.

Now, Aisholpan says she is happy that her story has inspired girls and women around the world'.
