Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Following State Honored Economist B.Osorgarav’s initiative ‘Helping Mongolia overcome economic difficulties’ which was announced on January 30, distorted reports claiming that the initiative was an order of Government have allegedly surfaced. In response, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat expressed his stance, and gave instructions to some Ministers yesterday, February 1.

“The donation initiative is a voluntary campaign forwarded by citizens. As the Government didn’t give orders to begin such campaign, it’s impossible for us to order them to stop. We can’t discourage a voluntary move based on one’s kindness and devotion for the country”, the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister J.Erdenebat also assigned Finance Minister B.Choijilsuren to initiate a donation account on State fund, set a deadline for donations, and disclose the donation process openly to public on daily basis.

“However, Mongolian Government won’t repay its debts by collecting donations from its people. No money donated by the Mongolian people will be spent on repaying the debts”, he noted. According to the Prime Minister, the Government has found a solution to settle its debt by March.

“The Cabinet will discuss how to spend the amount of total donation, and will allocate it on health, education, air pollution and infrastructure development”, he added. He also ordered corresponding Ministers to handle the tasks of expressing gratitude towards those who joined the initiative, and presenting a certificate of participation.

The Prime Minister met with State Honored Economist B.Osorgarav on January 31 to appreciate his devotion to the country.
