OyuTolgoi to gather its suppliers
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Oyu Tolgoi LLC is scheduling to hold a Supplier’s Forum on January 31.
As identified by the organizers, the Supplier’s Forum aims to demonstrate Oyu Tolgoi’s commitment to building in country supply chain with focus on Life of Mine goods-services, covering both operations and underground, communicating on how to do business with Oyu Tolgoi, and elaborating the Contractors’ key requirements in doing business with Oyu Tolgoi.
Oyu Tolgoi prioritizes the development of service contractor employment and value-added procurement opportunities in Umnugobi province, with a continuous focus on cost and productivity improvements across the supply chain.
Having significantly increased since 2010, the company’s total amount spent with Umnugobi suppliers reached USD 66 million in 2015 whereas in-country spend within national and international suppliers (registered in Mongolia, paying taxes in Mongolia, creating added-value, and employing Mongolians) reached 79 percent in the same year. Oyu Tolgoi aimed for 82 percent in-country spend in 2016.
