Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 14, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg welcomed at her office the newly accredited Ambassadors of Tajikistan, Algeria, Estomnia, Greece, Sri Lanka, Malta, Brazil and Saudi Arabia.

At the meeting with the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr Nazirmad Alizoda, the Vice FM extended thanks for Tajikistan’s support of Mongolia’s initiative on establishing the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries.

Mr Alizode suggested the resume of meetings of the Intergovernmental commissions, in order to boost economic ties, and alleviating the visa requirements for ordinary citizens, especially, for businesspeople.

After this, Ms B.Battsetseg met with the Ambassador of the People’s Democratice Republic of Algeria in connection with his pending presentation of credentials. The Vice FM congratulated the Ambassador for being appointed to Mongolia, and noted there are abundance of opportunities for Mongolia and Algeria to cooperate in the spheres of mining, petroleum production, agriculture and combat against desertification. She also emphasized the importance of activating business contacts between the businesses of the two countries.

The Algerian Ambassador pledged his efforts for strengthening bilateral ties, and proposed to renew the cultural cooperation and trade agreements and to launch consultative meetings between the Ministries of foreign affairs.

During her meeting with the Estonian Ambassador, Mr Marten Kokk, Ms Battsetseg applauded Estonia’s achievements in e-governance and put forward a request for cooperation in this sphere.

The Vice Minister, Mr B.Battsetseg and the Ambassador of Greece, Mr Leonidas Rokanas talked about the current political and economic situations in both countries and boosting cooperation in trade and tourism.

The Vice FM and the Ambassador of Sri Lanka also discussed about boosting business cooperation, as well as the cultural and educational ties.

Ms Battsetseg expressed willingness to cooperate with Malta in production of poststamps and commercial papers.

At the meeting with the Brazilian Ambassador, Mr Marcos Caramuru de Paiva, she noted the bilateral relations have been prospering in the agricultural and mining sectors, extended gratitude for training our future diplomats in the Academy of Diplomacy. The sides agreed to hold the consultative meeting between the foreign ministries in approximate future. The two countries will mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2017.

The non-resident Ambassador of Saudi Arabia confirmed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia is invited to visit his country. Ms Battsetseg proposed to study feasibilities to increase investment from Saudi Arabia to Mongolia’s agriculture, mining and other sectors.

The dignitaries also touched upon training of professional cadres for the petroleum and gas industries.
