Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In respect of the 376th anniversary of establishing the modern capital city of Mongolia, the UB City leaders paid tribute to the Turtle Statue, honored the Secret History of Mongols. and sounded the Armorial Morin Khuur (national musical instrument).

The capital city was founded in 1639, when the High Saint G.Zanabazar was consecrated as the leader of Mongolia’s Lamaism and established Orgoo (Palace). Since then, the city moved 28 times and settled in 1778 in the current location, the back of Bogdkhan Mountain, the bank of Tuul, the Queen river, the Hill of Seruun Selbe and the Hollow of Kurgan Stelae.

In order to immortalize this historic milestone, the Turtle Statue was erected in 1994 in the north of the founding place of present-day Ulaanbaatar. Originally, the most ancient and the first capital city of Mongolia–Kharkhorum--was founded by Chingis Khaan in 1220.
