Revenue from railway transport increased by 6.4 percent

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. In the first five months of 2020, 709.8 thousand
passengers (double counting) were carried by railway transport. The number of
carried passengers decreased by 266.5 thousand (27.3%) compared to the same
period of the previous year. In May 2020, the number of passengers reached
157.1 (double counting) thousand passengers and increased by 49.3 thousand
(45.7%) against to the previous month.
In the first five months of 2020, 12.0 million tonnes of
freight were carried by railway transport. Compared to the same period of the
previous year, the carried freight increased by 1.1 million tonnes (9.9%). This
increase was mainly due to 1.1 million tonnes (29.3%) increase in export
freight, 94.9 thousand tonnes (8.7%) increase in import freight, respectively.
In May 2020, carried freight reached 2.5 million tonnes,
showing an increase of 144.1 thousand tonnes (6.0%) against the previous month.
In the first five months of 2020, the revenue from railway
transport reached MNT 301.7 billion, increased by MNT 24.5 billion or 8.8%
compared to the same period of the previous year. This increase was mainly due
to increases in the transportation of mining products, especially from iron ore,
flours spar concentrates and coal.
In May 2020, the revenue reached MNT 65.8 billion and increased
by MNT 4.0 billion (6.4%) compared to the previous month.
Air transportation:
In the first five months of 2020, 263.1 thousand passengers (double counting) were
carried by air transport. The number of carried passengers declined by 253.1
thousand (49.0%) compared to the same period of the previous year.
In May 2020, the number of passengers reached 23.0 thousand
passengers and dropped by 1.5 thousand (6.1%) against the previous month.
In the first five months of 2020, 1.3 thousand tonnes of
freight carried by air transportation. The carried freight decreased by 872.5
tonnes (39.9%) compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the first five months of 2020, the total carried domestic
freight by air transport reached 33.3 tonnes (2.5%), showing an increase of 1.9
tonnes (6.0%) compared to the same period of the previous year. The
international freight reached 1.3 thousand tonnes (97.5%), showing a decrease
of 874.4 tonnes (40.6%) compared to the same period of the previous year.
In May 2020, carried freight reached 119.0 tonnes and
increased by 8.0 tonnes (7.2%) compared to the previous month.
In the first five months of 2020, the revenue from air
transport (domestic airline) reached MNT 62.6 billion, decreased by MNT 95.9
billion or 60.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In May 2020, the revenue reached MNT 4.0 billion and
decreased by MNT 2.7 billion (40.7%) compared to the previous month.
