Mongolia confirms ratification of Paris Agreement

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In frames of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj took part on September 21 in the event under auspices of the UN Secretary General for the first anniversary of the adoption of Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and presented certificates and credentials.

During the side events of the UNGA, 31 countries including Mongolia made confirmation on their ratification of the Paris Agreement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Total of 60 countries have ratified the Paris Agreement, and by the end of this year, all countries will join the Agreement, enabling it to take effect, said Mr Ban Ki-moon. The largest emitters of greenhouse gas – Brazil, Mexico and Argentina have also ratified the agreement. By ratification, the countries have agreed to the goal of limiting the global warming within less than 2 degrees per year.
