Young Mongolian Ice Climbers Win Eight Medals at World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, February 19, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The UIAA Ice Climbing World Youth Championships have taken place in Ouray, Colorado, the United States. More than 100 athletes from around 20 countries competed in three age categories.
Eight athletes from Mongolia, led by
coach D. Otgonkhuu, participated
in the championships and returned home with four gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
Specifically, B. Enkhrii-Erdene in
the women's U16, J. Amina in the U18, and E. Nomintenger in the men's U20 age
group won gold medals in the speed category. In addition, in
the speed category, E.
Dulguun in the men's U18 age group secured silver and
B. Munkhbaatar in the U20 age group grabbed bronze
medals, while J. Muhammad and A. Zorigtbaatar received honorable mentions.
With overall
team points, the Mongolian team won the gold medal in the speed category. In the
combined technical and speed event, the team earned a bronze medal, while B. Enkhrii-Erdene won a bronze medal in the
women's U16 technical event. This makes her the first Mongolian athlete to win
a medal at the world
championships in a technical event.
