City of Wind Selected as Mongolia's 2024 Oscar Entry

Ulaanbaatar, October 17, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The indie drama "Ser Ser Salkhi" [City of Wind], the feature debut of acclaimed Shorts Director Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir, has been set as Mongolia’s International Feature Oscar entry for 2024.
The Mongolian National Film Council has selected "City of Wind" out of Mongolian films released in 2023 to submit to the 96th Academy Awards, which will be held in March 2024 in Los Angeles.
The drama “City of Wind” became a five-country co-production between Mongolia, France, Portugal, the Netherlands and Germany. After its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in the Orizzonti Competition section, the film "City of Wind" went on to make its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and was later screened at the Busan International Film Festival. Newcomer Tergel Bold-Erdene won the Orizzonti Award for Best Actor at the 80th Venice International Film Festival for his role as a teenage shaman in the "City of Wind."
Last May, Brussels-based company Best Friend Forever acquired the international rights of the “City of Wind.”
"City of Wind" is a story about Ze (Tergel), a 17-year-old who serves as the shaman for his village while also studying hard at school. The Film will compete with films from 53 countries at the Academy Awards in the International Feature Film category.
