Mongolian Student Wins Bronze at FIDE World Schools Team Championship

Ulaanbaatar, August 16, 2023 /MONTSAME/.  Aktau, a beautiful city in Kazakhstan, hosted the inaugural FIDE World Schools Team Championship from August 3 to 8, 2023. This prestigious Championship saw the participation of over 50 teams, each representing schools from all over the world. 


The Mongolian team was coached by B. Galmandakh. The team's best performance came from Danzanjunai Ganbat, who won a bronze medal on board four. In terms of their collective performance, team Mongolia achieved 10th place overall. 


The teams were made up of four main players, one reserve, and one non-playing captain.


The teams competed in two age categories: U12 and U18. Notably, many of these teams had previously emerged victorious in their respective national school chess championships. The FIDE World Schools Team Championship holds a special place as the pinnacle of school chess competitions in the world.
