Public and private sectors developing strategic plan for tourism recovery

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister
of Environment and Tourism N.Urtnasan took part in a regular meeting of the
working group on the development of a strategic plan for tourism recovery. The
meeting discussed how to complete the development of the plan within 2021 and the
support needed for that.
Minister N.Urtnasan said there
are plans to reopen to tourists in phases in 2021, and boost tourist numbers in
2022-2023 to reach the rate of 2019, and bring tourist arrivals to 1 million by
2024 and increase the share of tourism revenue in national GDP. It is of great
significance that representatives of governmental and nongovernmental
organizations in the areas of transport, civil aviation, culture, foreign relations,
arts, economy, marketing, hospitality, and human resources are in the working
group, added the Minister.
The Ministry of Environment
and Tourism, Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mongolian
Tourism Association jointly organized the Tourism Forum Mongolia 2021 with the
slogan ‘New Normal-Tourism Recovery Strategy’ to support cross-sector and
public and private collaboration and find solutions to recovering tourism. The
forum discussed tourism development in the new normal and set up the
abovementioned working group.
