Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On June 10, Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan held a meeting with Ambassador of China to Mongolia Chai Wenrui.

At the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador informed that the two countries have reached an agreement on transporting goods and cargos, which are coming to Mongolia through the Zamiin Uud – Erlian border point, by rail. The agreement is made after a series of requests put forward by the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia on resuming the freight trucks stuck at border points.

Despite the fact that China’s own domestic freight transport services have been lower due to COVID-19 situations, China is paying attention on intensifying freight transportation for its neighbor countries, the Ambassador underlines.

The meeting further touched on enhancing the reciprocal measures to maintain the normal bilateral relations in trade and economic areas amid the ongoing pandemic situation. In particular, the Deputy Prime Minister Amarsaikhan thanked for the Chinese side for increasing the number of trucks importing or exporting goods and cargos across border checkpoints and accelerating the transportation of containers bound for Mongolia that are stuck at China’s Port of Tianjin.

Deputy PM also mentioned that preparations are underway for a free economic zone to start operating by the third quarter of this year as well as for agreements to establish for broadening of cross-border trade cooperation between the two nations. A team appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working at the Zamiin-Uud region, neighboring with China in order to stabilize the border movement activities.
