Period of heightened state of readiness extended until April 30

/MONTSME/ On March 25, the Cabinet convened for an irregular meeting and approved a resolution on extending the period of heightened state of
readiness for disaster protection nationwide until April 30.
According
to a risk assessment on the spread of COVID-19 made by a team of 25 specialists
on March 22, Mongolia is at very high risk of infection spread. Hence, it is considered
necessary to extend the period of heightened state of readiness, which expires
on March 31, until April 30. As a result, administrative and territorial units,
public and local administrative organizations and legal bodies will continue to
operate under the heightened state of readiness for disaster protection until
the end of April.
At the
irregular meeting of the Cabinet, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the State
Emergency Commission S.Amarsaikhan presented current situation of COVID-19
pandemic in the country and ongoing responsive measures.
Moreover,
the Cabinet discussed and adopted the budget on additional expense in regard
with the increasing number of infection cases and intensification of
immunization work as well as a resolution on extension of period of heightened
state of readiness by a month.
In addition, a resolution on measures to be taken on border crossing ports was amended and extended by a month. Freight
transportation will run normal through 14 border crossing points until May 1
while passenger movement will remain restricted. Only with permission of the
SEC, passenger will be able to enter the country’s border.
Incidentally, on February 21, the Government approved an interim regulation designed for determining the level of COVID-19 transmission and managing the operations of government organizations, individuals and private legal entities. According to the regulation, entities and individuals are carrying out rules and guidelines for Orange – Level 3, under the heightened state of readiness from March 13 to April 5.
