Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. With a view to reduce negative impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable groups in Mongolia, Mongolian Red Cross Society today started delivering food parcels to families at risk of food poverty.

In the first phase of the food parcel donation, 1,000 families living in Ulaanbaatar city will receive the assistance, which is also supported by the State Emergency Commission, local administrative offices and private companies.

The immediate assistance has been funded from the Disaster response emergency fund of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies /IFRC/. Since the beginning of this year, MRCS together with IFRC has assisted 4000 vulnerable families with food parcels and 2500 vulnerable families with hygiene parcels.
