Certificate presented to 50 students for engineering studies in Japan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On October 8, a total of 50 students were presented certificates for meeting the requirements to study in Japan through the Higher Engineering Education Development Project, with 34 students accepted for the Koosen program and 16 students accepted for bachelor’s degree programs. 


Due to the pandemic, the accepted students had been studying online as their date to go to Japan had been postponed. However, with the decision made by the State Emergency Commission, they will be departing for the country by the charter flight planned to be conducted on October 10.


With aims to prepare highly skilled personnel specialized in engineering and technology, increase competitiveness, and enhance the learning environment and quality, the Higher Engineering Education Development Project is successfully being implemented for the 6th year since 2014. The 50 students will all be studying in the field of engineering in Japan over the course of 2-2.5 years, with the condition to come back to their home country and work in their profession for 5 years.


As of the first half of 2020, a total of 670 students and researchers have been involved in the program, which makes the progress of achieving the objective of preparing 1,000 engineers stand at 67 percent.


Deputy Minister of Education and Science G.Ganbayar, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Mongolia Office Tamura Eriko as well as the rector and department heads of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology participated in the ceremony, wishing success in the students’ endeavors.
