Energy Minister meets ADB Country Director

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Energy N.Tavinbekh met
with Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Pavit Ramachandran. ADB
Mongolia Country Director Pavit Ramachandran highlighted that the Bank that has
been cooperating with Mongolia to ensure energy system security and stability is
now developing its 2021-2024 Country Partnership Strategy for Mongolia.
Minister N.Tavinbekh thanked the Bank for its support and expressed his hope that the sides will cooperate fruitfully in
increasing renewable energy sources. Mongolia gets 18 percent of its energy
from renewable sources. Technical assistance is currently being provided in the
field of methane gas and it is possible to reduce heating cost as well as environmental
pollution with the implementation of geothermal energy projects.
At the meeting, the sides agreed to later talk at length
about increasing renewable energy sources and ensuring private sector’s involvement.
Minister N.Tavinbekh undertook to cooperate in supplying power to ger areas using
distributed renewable energy sources.
