Twin sisters both awarded 'Order of Maternal Glory'

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga today, August 17, handed over “Order of Maternal Glory” to eligible mothers living in Chingeltei district of the capital city.


According to the Presidential decree, a total of 478 mothers in Chingeltei district, have been awarded with the “Order of Maternal Glory” this year, including 24 first-class order and 454 second-class order.


A resident of Ulaanbaatar's Chingeltei district M.Mungunsuvd, one of the twin sisters aged 33, who are receiving their second-class orders together this year, was among the mothers.


Following the awarding ceremony, President Kh.Battulga extended warm greetings to M.Mungunsuvd, mother of four sons and a daughter and her family and informed that her twin M.Munkhsuvd living in Khentii aimag will soon receive her second-class order.


Closing the ceremony, President Battulga said in his speech: “Policy promoting growth of the country’s population and helping mothers to raise their children in secure environment must never be overlooked, and in fact, the policy should be prioritized. Conferral of this Order is a beautiful tradition of Mongolian statehood, a representation of traditional mentality of the people of Mongolia and their great respect for mothers”.


The Orders of Maternal Glory have been conferred each year since 1959. According to the Law on Rewarding Mothers with Multiple Children, passed in 2010, Second Class Order is conferred on mothers who birthed and raised 4 or more children, and First Class Order is conferred on mothers who birthed and raised 6 or more children. 


This year, a total of 10,677 mothers are to receive the Order on the national level. First Class Orders are to be conferred upon 760 mothers, while Second Class Orders will go to 9,957 mothers, nationwide.


Due to this year’s circumstances and in pursuance to COVID-19 precaution efforts, the President is presenting some orders on the local level and with adjusted time schedule.
