Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On August 6, Acting Governor of the capital city J.Batbayasgalan met with representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). IOM Mongolia has been working to provide real-time and comprehensive information on community migration.
Accordingly, the IOM Mongolia, in partnership with the Municipality of Ulaanbaatar, has worked on the improvement of inflow-and-outflow registration for three months to ensure readiness in times of the COVID-19 and to plan the measures optimally to be taken in case of the infection spread. The activity utilized the internationally recognized Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) tool, which is used to obtain real-time information on migration.
As a result of the activity, it saw new and previously unused useful information and attitudes regarding internal migration, especially towards the capital. Therefore, the IOM Mongolia expressed willingness to expand partnership with the Municipality of Ulaanbaatar in improving the quality of social services to citizens according to research-based smart planning, by way of frequently collecting accurate data on migration in the capital city and creating real-time and comprehensive information about the people involved in migration.
