Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At the regular meeting, the Presidium of the Citizens’ Representative Khural (city council) of Ulaanbaatar city approved the decision to turn the streets around the Choijin Lama Temple Museum Complex into car-free streets. A special working group was formed to study the protection of the area. As a result, they put forth suggestions to improve the conservation as well as security of the Choijin Lama Temple Museum, to reduce the harmful factors in its environment, and to ensure traffic safety in the area. This included: 1) restricting car traffic on the west and east sides of the museum and only allowing pedestrian and bicycle traffic, 2) establish a mini shopping district near the temple museum and support tourism activities following as pedestrian traffic increases. Approving the aforementioned suggestions, the presidium obliged the Governor of the Capital City to provide the implementation of the resolution, and to conduct landscaping for the surrounding area of the Choijin Lama Temple Museum Complex.
